Korean Skincare Is Again Leading Today’s Beauty Market

The introduction of BB & CC Creams to America. The introduction of anti-aging face masks (the fabric ones you stick onto your face) in America. These are the hottest beauty and skin care products in the USA currently. And where did they all come out first? Answer: in South Korea.
South Korean pop culture has touched many lives world-wide. Just recently, the global tidal wave craze of Psy’s hit song “Gangnam Style” was the first taste of Korea to many Americans males. For the girl next door, it probably wasn’t. Unknowingly, most American women have been already touched by Korea. The newest and trendiest skincare and makeup products used by American women have all been influenced by Korean brands. Big beauty brands like Estee Lauder and Lancôme have seen sales growth slowing over the years and have looked towards the Korean market to determine which new products they should be developing. We know for a fact that lots of our staff love to watch Korean music videos. The girls are pretty and their makeup and skin…flawless. Whatever the Korean women are using on their faces, that’s what we should be using too.
One trend to watch out for is the “dewy” look. All actresses in South Korean TV dramas and movies use skin care and makeup products that leave a moist sheen on their faces. In America, the dry foundation look is still favored but don’t be surprised if A-listers like Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lawrence, and Jessica Alba start sporting the wet look if they haven’t already.
Korean skincare has revolutionized the beauty industry in the past few years. And it will be no surprise to us if an Estee Lauder or a Lancôme acquires a leading Korean skincare brand to integrate into its beauty arsenal in the near future to stay on top of the competition.
